Before investigating any DataShare Connect error validate that the SME can access the data through their Accounting Package.
This is the best way to double check the SME is using the correct credentials and has the correct access permissions for the data they are trying to upload.
If the user is unable to access the data using the credentials in their possession then it follows that DataShare connect will be unable to access the data using the same credentials.
For DataShare Connect to access Sage 50 Canada (Simply) data you will need to know;
- The Sage 50 Canada (Simply) installation has a valid licence.
- You know the Company from which you wish to upload data.
- The Username for the company you wish to upload.
- The Password for the company you wish to upload.
Supported Versions of Sage 50 Canada (Simply).
DataShare Connect supports versions of Sage 50 Canada (Simply) which are supported by the vendor. However there are versions which are supported by DataShare Connect that the vendor no longer provides support for. To check if your Sage 50 Canada (Simply) version is compatible click here.

The exact error will be reported in the log file in the %appdata%\validis\logs folder.
This is the file that will be used by support to investigate and fix your issue. Visit this page for more information.
If DataShare Connect does not detect Sage 50 Canada (Simply) correctly.
If DataShare Connect does not detect Sage 50 Canada (Simply) correctly check:
- The accounting package was successfully launched at least one time. This is required because Sage 50 Canada (Simply) will register some of its components in the GAC (Global Assembly Cache) . DataShare Connect depends on some the components registered in the GAC to function correctly.
- If you are already logged in with the same user in the accounting package, try closing the accounting package application. We are aware of some versions of sage 50 Canada (Simply) that do not support multiple connections with the same user.
If DataShare Connect does not accept the credentials supplied.
If DataShare Connect does not accept the username and password you are entering;
- Ensure the Sage 50 Canada (Simply) Connection Manager is launched (check the system tray);
- Ensure the Username supplied has 3rd Party access rights within Sage 50 Canada (Simply). See "How to check your permissions in Sage 50 Canada (Simply)"
